IEA PVPS Task 13 - Enabling 2nd life photovoltaics

ISES and IEA PVPS are happy to start a new webinar collaboration on 18th April 2024.

The first webinar presents the work of IEA-PVPS Task 13 and their work on 2nd life photovoltaics.

The webinar will discuss the Subtask 1.2 of IEA-PVPS Task 13. The webinar will emphasize the importance of condition monitoring of PV module materials to assess repairability after failure. Attendees will gain insights into suitable repair procedures that lead to the restoration of electrical insulation properties of damaged backsheets and the role of comprehensive information about the origin and operation of the PV modules to enable second-life photovoltaics.

Speaker presentations:

  • Gabriele Eder (Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology): Development of a repair methodology for PV modules with damaged backsheets

  • Laura Bruckman (Case Western Reserve University): Field Experiences of PV module backsheets

  • Roger H. French (Case Western Reserve University): Using FAIRification and PV Ontologies to enable 2nd Life PV via provenance of modules, their energy production and O&M history

The webinar will be moderated by Gernot Oresk (Polymer Competence Center Leoben)i.

The webinar is organised by the IEA PVPS, the IEA Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme and hosted by ISES, the International Solar Energy Society.
